WayMatrix Routing API
WayMatrix Routing API
Travel-time matrices, routes and isochrones, compatible with the Openrouteservice API.
A drop-in replacement for Openrouteservice's public API, for three endpoint families: matrix, directions and isochrones. Point your Openrouteservice client at this base URL, change the key, and it works.
Before you start
Four things decide whether this API fits what you're building:
- One profile. Every request names a routing profile in its path, such as
/v2/matrix/driving-car, anddriving-caris the only one served. Any other profile returns an "incorrect value" error; there are no truck, bike or foot profiles. - North America only, from OpenStreetMap data, with excellent coverage in cities.
- No live traffic. Travel times are estimates from the road network, not current conditions.
- Bring your own coordinates. There is no geocoding endpoint yet. Geocoding is coming soon; until then, send longitude and latitude.
What it costs
You're billed per element rather than per request, and failed calls are never charged.
- Free — 50,000 elements a month (available now).
- $29 a month — 1,000,000 elements, which covers most projects (available now).
- $99 a month — 5,000,000 elements (available now).
- $299 a month — 20,000,000 elements, for larger deployments (coming soon).
An element is one unit of that work:
- A matrix costs
|sources| × |destinations|elements. - Directions cost a flat 10 elements.
- Isochrones scale with reach:
locations × 100 × (largest range ÷ reference)².
